The Past Leaders

They came in cloaks of many names,

Some with ballots, others with flames.

Some came with vision, staff in hand,

Others came blind, yet claimed command.

They stood atop the nation’s crest,

Some led with courage, some repressed.

They wrote their names in books and stone,

But history speaks in undertone.

Some built with blood, some stole. . .
