Chapter Seven: The Glimpse

She had been aware of the people peeking at them all along but maintained her composure. She entered her the house and half of the women of the compound were scattered in the courtyard; seeing her, they were immediately ashamed of their eavesdropping. She ignored them, acting as if she didn't notice their curiosity. She said, “Good afternoon,” and walked inside.

She met her mother sifting grains near the door. Amatu sat next to her, resting her head on the wall. Am back she said tirelessly.
